# Audit

> Review compliance and access events for your workspace.

# Audit

Requires **Audit & compliance** permission.

**Audit** shows a log of important workspace events (for example access and compliance-related actions). Use it when investigating who changed sensitive data or when preparing for reviews.

## How to use it

1. Open **Audit** in the sidebar.
2. Filter by date, actor, or event type when filters are available.
3. Open a row for detail.

  Audit is for authorized staff only. Treat entries as confidential — they may reference clinical or staff activity.

## Retention

The live **Audit** list keeps recent events (platform default **6 years**, or the years set under [Workspace settings](/admin/workspace-settings) → **Security & access policy**). Older entries leave this page after they are archived.

* Turn on **Audit legal hold** in workspace security policy to pause archiving for the whole workspace
* A patient **legal hold** on the chart keeps that patient’s **Patient** audit rows on the live log; other event types still archive on schedule unless workspace audit legal hold is on
