# Permissions

> How ClinZero HMS permissions control what you see in the sidebar.

# Permissions

Access is granted by **role** inside a **workspace**, not by a global job title alone.

## How it works

1. Your workspace admin assigns you a **role**.
2. The role includes permissions such as `Patient records`, `Appointments`, `Lab management`, and so on.
3. The sidebar and pages only show what that role allows.
4. Workspace **module** toggles can hide a feature for everyone even if the role includes it.

## Common modules

| Area in UI         | Typical need                            |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------- |
| Patient records    | View / manage patients                  |
| Appointments       | Schedule visits                         |
| Laboratory         | Labs, catalog, reports                  |
| Clinical documents | Notes and referrals                     |
| Users              | Invite and manage staff                 |
| Roles & access     | Edit permission matrix                  |
| Workspace settings | Branding, timezone, print, subscription |
| Audit              | Compliance log                          |

Exact names and access levels (read vs manage) are defined in **Roles & access**.

## Super-admin

ClinZero platform operators may have elevated access for support. That is separate from your hospital role.
