Lab quality control (QC)

Requires Laboratory permission. Optional publish gate is configured under Workspace settings. Use Laboratory → Quality control to track internal quality control (IQC) for tests that have a control lot.

Today board

  1. Open Laboratory → Quality control (Today tab).
  2. Review the summary strip (Due / Pass / Fail / Expired) for the workspace day.
  3. For each Due or Fail row, enter the measured value and click Log (or press Enter).
  4. The system marks Pass or Fail from the lot’s expected min/max.
If the value is outside the expected range, a fail note strip opens under that row. Enter a short reason, then click Log fail (or Log). Use Log filled to log every row that already has a measured value (expired lots and out-of-range values without a note are skipped). Open History (clock icon in Actions, or click Last run) to review past runs and a simple trend sparkline for that lot — same drawer as on Materials. A Pass today satisfies the publish gate for that test (when the gate is on). If Require Pass on all active levels is also on, every active lot (L1/L2/L3) for that test must Pass today.

Expiry nudges

A banner appears when any active lot is expired or expires within 7 workspace days. On Materials, the Expires cell is highlighted the same way. You cannot log a Pass against an expired lot — deactivate it and Duplicate or create a new lot.

QC card on Overview

When anything needs quality-control attention, the Overview page shows a Quality control card with today’s counts:
  • Due today — active lots with no run logged for the workspace calendar day.
  • Failed — active lots whose latest run today was a Fail.
  • Expired lots — active lots past their expiry date.
Click Open quality control to go straight to Laboratory → Quality control. The card is hidden when all three counts are zero, and only members with Laboratory permission see it.

Materials

  1. Open the Materials tab.
  2. Click Add material (or Duplicate on an existing row to copy ranges/level with a blank lot number).
  3. Choose the lab, test, control level (L1–L3), lot number, and expected min/max.
  4. Save. Only Active lots appear on Today and count for the gate.
Open History on a row to review past runs and a simple trend sparkline (not full Levey–Jennings rules). Deactivate expired lots and create a new lot when the insert expires.

Require QC before publish

  1. Go to Workspace settings.
  2. In Lab quality, turn on Require a passing quality-control run before publish.
  3. Optionally turn on Require Pass on all active levels (only applies when the publish gate is on).
  4. Save.
When the publish gate is on:
  • Only tests that have an active control lot are gated (no lot ⇒ no new block).
  • Default: any Pass today for that test clears the gate.
  • With all active levels: every relevant active lot for that test must Pass today.
  • Approve & publish / Publish is blocked until the rule is satisfied.
  • The report editor shows a QC chip and a Release checklist before publish.
  • If publish is blocked, open Today’s QC from the checklist dialog, log Pass, then try again.
Submit for sign-off is still allowed when QC is due — finish QC before final publish.
